Gorillaz 'Live at the Brit Awards'

I had the honour of freelancing at Passion Pictures on one of the first 'live' performances by Gorillaz.
Logistically this was a tricky one to execute. All of the animated sequences were created ahead of time to be played out on huge LED screens on the night of the awards.

The sequences were broken down into sections: Individual character panels, a virtual stage that the characters performed in and then that footage was used, picture within picture as it were, to be comped in on the big screen behind them.

I was responsible for the virtual camera animation and lighting of many of the shots (featured here) as well as the lead singer's blend shapes and some organic texturing for a couple of the characters (2D and Russel).
